Coming soon – ELM329L v2.2

We’ve been a little slow getting the ‘L’ version of our latest ELM329 CAN Interpreter out, but it will be coming soon. As with the ELM329 v2.2, the new ELM329L will:

  • handle response pending (7F xx 78) replies
  • have a modified AT CS command that displays the CAN frequency
  • allow the response timeout range to be expanded 5x
  • have the ability to define a CAN Extended Receive address
  • have new W0 and W1 commands for more control of periodic (wakeup) messages
  • have an AT FB command to allow filler byte redefinition on the fly

The new integrated circuit should be fully tested and ready in the next few weeks.

Mail Disruptions

Canada Post has begun a series of rotating walkouts here in Canada. This is affecting the mail delivery in various locations, and may well affect the delivery of your order.

While we do everything that we can to get your order to the Post Office in a timely fashion, we can not control what happens to it after it is handed over. When we email to say that your order is on the way then it certainly is, but it may be travelling a little slower than normal.

Attention American Customers !

Apparently there have been significant delays at the border. It seems that Canada Post hands off our packages to the US Customs and Border Protections group, which in turn gives them to the USPS. Processing times through Customs and Border Protections has been longer lately:

June 2018 Canada Post Alert

We are sorry to say that there really is nothing that we can do about these delays.

Coming Soon – ELM329 v2.2

The ELM329 continues to be a strong seller in the CAN-only market, but we felt it was time that it was updated. The new chip sports the usual code improvements and bug fixes, and also adds several new features. To name only a few of the changes, the new ELM329:

  • now handles response pending (7F xx 78) replies
  • adds CAN frequency display to the AT CS command

  • provides a new AT CER command to define the extended address receiver
  • adds new W0/W1 commands for more control of periodic (wakeup) messages
  • adds an AT FB command to allow filler byte redefinition on the fly

Final testing of this IC is now underway, and the data sheet update has begun. We will be begin sales of the new ELM329 v2.2 in the next month or two.

ELM327 v1.4b Discontinued

Firmware version 1.4b of the ELM327 was introduced in 2010, and continued to be a very strong seller until the ELM327 v2.0 was released in 2013. Several larger customers did not want to go through retesting of their designs with the new v2.0 chips however, as their v1.4b products were working well. To accommodate these customers, we continued to offer the v1.4b product, in addition to any new ones.

A further 5 years has now passed and sales of the v1.4b product are at a point where we have decided to discontinue sales of it. Once our stock levels are depleted, we will be removing it from our web store.

Many thanks to all that have purchased the ELM327 v1.4b over the years. The ELM327 v2.2 is a pin and software compatible replacement, should you need one.

Christmas Shutdown

It’s that time of year again. We take a break from filling orders and answering emails, and spend some time with our families. We do hope that you are able to spend some time with yours.

If you wish to place an order, the system will gladly accept your money. We will not be back to begin filling the orders until January 8, however. As always, we will send you an email when your order does ship.

Best Wishes for 2018!
