Privacy Policy

There has been a great deal of interest shown lately in Privacy Policies. This is in large part due to the new General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) law in the EU, but there have also been examples of people’s private data being shared without their knowledge. Elm Electronics Inc. has always taken the utmost care with your personal data, and will continue to do so.

When we first started in the 90’s, we posted a Privacy Policy. It remains almost unchanged since that time:

Any information that you provide to us remains confidential, and is never shared with nor sold to another party.

When you go to our ‘cart’ to complete your purchase, you will be required to provide information that is needed to authenticate the Credit Card information. We also need the same information in order to label your package. It is to your advantage to provide complete and accurate shipping information if you want to receive your goods with the least delay.

Some people have questioned the need for providing their telephone number and their email address as well. We only print your telephone number on the invoice (so that your Customs Office can reach you if they have to) but do nothing else with it. As for the email address, that is required if you want us to tell you when your package ships, or for us to contact you if there is a problem.

The Credit Card information you provide travels as an encypted message directly to the processing centre. It is never stored on our server, and at no time do we at Elm Electronics have access to it. If the card information you provided was acceptable, we receive an email with the details of your order.

Hopefully this has been informative. Rest assured that Elm Electronics only asks for the information that it needs in order to get your order to you. We never use that information for any other purpose.
