Here is information on some of the most common things that we are asked concerning orders:
We offer reduced per-unit prices if you order 10 or more pieces of one product. Please refer to the product pages – each has a table showing the prices.
Your Invoice will show the actual per unit price that you paid for each product. Do not ask for Elm Electronics to falsify this data in any way.
There is no minimum order. If you wish to buy only one IC, that is fine.
We can not ship our products to certain countries. In general, this is because of Canada’s laws, but in a few cases, it is because the postal service has proven to be so poor, and packages almost never arrive.
The countries that we will not ship to are:
- North Korea
- South Africa
These countries should be blocked by the ordering system, but if an order for one should be approved we will be required to cancel it and refund any payment made.
When you go through the checkout process, you will be able to enter a billing address (for the credit card verification). That address will also be used for your shipping address, unless you tick the little box beside ‘Ship to a different address?’:
If you tick the box, you will be able to enter a different (or more complete) shipping address. Please ensure that the shipping address that you provide is as detailed and accurate as possible.
Note that the country provided for the shipping address must match the one provided for the billing address.
All orders are shipped by Canada Post Air Mail from Canada, and often take only one or two weeks to get to the destination (depending on local holidays, and any delays at your Customs office). There is no tracking number associated with this type of shipping. We do not offer any express or courier shipping options.
Shipping and Handling Charges
A charge of $8.00 is automatically added to every order to cover the costs of shipping and handling. It does not matter where you live in the world, or the total cost of your order – the amount is always the same.
Payment must be through our web site, using a credit card. We currently only accept VISA, MasterCard, and AMEX. We do not accept cheques, money orders, money transfers, or PayPal payments.
If your payment is approved, two identical emails will be generated showing what you bought – one is sent to you so that you have a record of your purchase, and one is sent to us, so that we know what to send you. When we package your order, we will insert our invoice inside, showing your purchase details (and for some countries, we also attach a copy of it to the outside of the package, for Customs use).
Duties and Fees
Several people have asked about the payment of Customs duties and clearance fees when their package arrives at the destination country. Elm Electronics only pays for the shipping from Canada, and does not pay for any other charges, such as Customs duties, taxes, or other fees. These are your responsibility.
All of our prices are shown in Canadian dollars, but they will be converted to your currency by your credit card company. A few Customers have found that some credit card companies charge a large fee for converting the currency, and were not pleased to discover this. While most people find the rates are similar to normal currency exchanges, this is not always the case, so If you are unsure of what the exchange fee will be, check with your credit card company before making the purchase.
To give you an idea of approximately what your bill will be, visit The XE Currency Converter web site.
We have no retailers or distributors. Elm Electronics is a web-based business, and we require that all purchases be made through our web site. This helps to keep costs down, so prices can be the lowest possible.
Returns are NOT accepted. We can never know what stresses an IC has been subjected to, so can never resell one if it were to be returned. Please select the type of integrated circuit (PDIP or SOIC) and the number of devices very carefully.
